Well... apparently my last blog post was June 29. ๐
At the time, I was definitely going to do a better job keeping up with these this season.
And then summer happened.
Ladies Night kept happening. Salty Queens kept happening. USWDGC came to Salt Lake City. A second She Throws league started at Creekside. There were tournaments, aces, CTPs, new players, new friendships, Date Nights, costumes... and somewhere in all of that, updating the blog fell pretty far down the list.
So instead of trying to catch you up week by week, let's start here:
Tuesday night, a bunch of us sat around a long table at my house, ate "girl dinner," made disc golf keychains, laughed a lot, and celebrated the end of our 2026 She Throws SLC season.
๐ One Last Night Together
We kept Awards Night pretty simple.
I covered one long table in what I can only describe as an aggressive amount of "girl dinner." ๐ Mini chicken tacos, chips, salsa, guacamole, multiple flavors of hummus, veggies and ranch, apples, grapes, cauliflower pizza, cookies and drinks all ran down the middle of the table.
We ate. We talked. We laughed. And then it was time for awards!
This year, instead of traditional trophies, I made little wooden disc pendants for each of our award winners and we turned them into keychains, because apparently even our trophies needed to become a craft project. ๐
๐The 2026 She Throws SLC Awards
2026 Best Costume โ Lisa Aun,
"Disco Snail" ๐ชฉ๐
We let everyone vote for this one!
Seven costumes went up for public voting, 42 votes came in, and Lisa's Disco Snail slid away with the win, taking 64.3% of the vote!
Apparently Lisa may have spent most of 2026 at the top of leaderboards, but the Disco Snail proved she's perfectly capable of winning at a much slower pace. ๐๐ชฉ๐
Congratulations, Lisa!
2026 Pride Queen โ Makenna Garcia ๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐
This was a brand-new award this year, and I added it for one very simple reason:
I've never had someone show up quite as BIG for Pride Week as Makenna did.
Not only did she come ready to celebrateโshe crocheted her entire outfit herself in THREE DAYS just for Ladies Night! ๐
That kind of enthusiasm and willingness to completely embrace what we're doing is exactly what makes these nights so much fun.
Our first-ever Pride Queen had to be Makenna. ๐๐
2026 B Pool Sharp Shooter โ Alex Ingram ๐ฏ
Alex came out HOT this season and figured out how to hit her target!
She finished the season with 8 CTPsโand she probably would've had even more B Pool CTPs if she hadn't kept getting bumped up to A Pool when she was the only B Pool player there.
And, I mean...
How was she supposed to compete with Charlotte?! ๐
Congratulations to our B Pool Sharp Shooter, Alex!
2026 A Pool Sharp Shooter โ Charlotte Christensen ๐ฏ
Speaking of Charlotte...
She absolutely crushed the Reds this season.
Charlotte really dialed in her short game, taking down more of our CTPs than anyone else in A Pool with over 15 CTP wins.
Oh... and apparently hitting her target wasn't enough.
She also hit TWO ACES this season! ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Charlotte's short game was absolutely on fire this year, making her our very deserving 2026 A Pool Sharp Shooter!
Congratulations Charlotte!
๐ฅ Speaking of ACEโsโฆ
... we absolutely cannot leave out Kati!
Kati smashed an ace on Hole 14 from the Red Tee this seasonโwhich made it extra fun for me because that's the exact same hole and pad I aced last year! ๐๐ฅ
Unfortunately, Kati had not bought into the Ace Pot that night... ๐ญ๐
A painful reminder to us all: ALWAYS BUY INTO THE ACE POT.
But Ace Pot or not, an ace is an aceโand it absolutely deserves a spot in our 2026 season recap!
Congratulations Kati!
2026 Rookie of the Year โ Kinzie Campbell ๐ฑโจ
This one made my big disc golf mama heart pretty darn proud. ๐
Kinzie's first-ever Ladies Night was May 19, 2026.
That's it. MAY.
By the end of the season, she wasn't just regularly showing up to Tuesday Ladies Night at Roots and working on her own game.
She started an entire second She Throws SLC league at Creekside on Wednesday nights.
Then she took the PDGA Tournament Director course and stepped up to TD Queens Crown II, the final Salty Queens tournament of the seasonโher first time ever TDing an event.
In just a few months, Kinzie went from showing up to her first Ladies Night to creating opportunities for other women to show up and play.
That's the part that gets me.
I'm incredibly grateful for the way Kinzie showed up on the scene this year and immediately started making things happenโnot just for herself, but for this community.
Giving her 2026 Rookie of the Year was a pretty special moment for me. ๐
Thank you so much & Congratulations Kinzie!!!
And last, but definitely not least...
Our 2026 She Throws SLC Lady of the Year
๐๐ Lisa Aun ๐๐
Where do I even start with Lisa's season? If I had to pick one word, it would be consistent. Lisa shows up.
She shows up to Ladies Night. She shows up for SLCTR club events. She plays Salty Queens tournaments.
She supports the people around her, and she genuinely cares about this disc golf community.
And when Lisa shows up... she comes to PLAY. ๐
Lisa earned the most Ladies Night points this season, but her incredible year definitely didn't start or stop on Tuesday nights.
She and her partner (my sweet younger brother๐) took 1st at Luv Dubs. She hit her first Salt Lake Valley ace on Hole 15 at Roots.
And then there was this little thing called the 2026 United States Women's Disc Golf Championship, where Lisa became the FA2 Champion. ๐
And here's my favorite fun fact about that win:
Lisa never trailed. Not once.
She started the tournament tied for first with every other player in the field. She was first to tee on her card, threw that first shotโand from that moment through the end of four rounds of Major championship golf, she never gave up the lead.
Every. Single. Shot.
For four rounds, Lisa was the player everyone else was chasing.
And THAT feels like a pretty perfect way to describe Lisa's entire 2026 season.
She showed up. She competed. She supported her community. And whether it was a Tuesday night at Roots or the biggest women's disc golf event of the year, Lisa brought it.
What a year.
Congratulations Lisa! ๐๐
๐ A HUGE Thank You to Our 2026 Sponsors
Before we wrap up this season, I need to give a HUGE thank you to the businesses that helped make Ladies Night possible this year.
Another Round Salt Lake City was our main 2026 Ladies Night sponsor, and their support this season was HUGE.
They supported our weekly podium awards throughout the season, giving our ladies something extra to play for each Tuesday while continuing to support and invest in women's disc golf here in Salt Lake.
Having a local disc golf shop willing to consistently show up for our women's community means so much to me, and I'm incredibly grateful for everything Another Round did for us this year. ๐
A big thank you also goes to Distracted Disc Golf in Ogden, who donated four CTP gift cards for us to give away throughout the season!
Those extra little prizes make league nights that much more fun, and we really appreciate Distracted supporting our ladies from up north. ๐๐ฅ
Thank you both so much!!!
๐ A Season That Became More Than Tuesdays
When I started ladies night, the goal was pretty simple: I wanted more women to play disc golf with.
This year, I've watched it become something bigger than one person running a Tuesday night league.
We finally have a 2nd league night at a different course. We had women competing through Salty Queens. We had USWDGC right here in Salt Lake City. We had Pride Night, Date Nights, first rounds, personal bests, CTPs, aces, ridiculous costumes and a whole lot of laughs.
But more importantly, we had women show up for each other.
And that's really the whole point.
โจTo every woman who showed up this seasonโwhether you were there almost every week or joined us just once.
To every partner who showed up for Date Night, caddied at an event, or cheered us on.
To every community member who commented, liked, or shared our social media posts.
To everyone who told someone about She Throws SLC, invited a friend, or helped another woman find us...
From the bottom of my heartโTHANK YOU!!!
You were part of our 2026 season. ๐
And I can't wait to see what we build together next. ๐๐ฅ
See you in 2027.
