Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Not at all. Our events are designed for all experience levels — including people who have never played before. If you’re brand new, we’ll help you get started and pair you with a supportive group.

  • Disc golf is an outdoor sport played much like traditional golf — but instead of hitting a ball with clubs, players throw specially designed flying discs toward metal targets called baskets.

Disc golf is accessible, affordable, and fun for all ages. Many courses are free to play and located in public parks, and you’ll see players of all skill levels enjoying the sport together.

You don’t need to understand everything before you come out — but if you’d like to learn more scroll to the bottom of the page for some helpful Videos.

You do not need your own discs to participate. Loaner discs are available for any She Throws SLC event .

  • Our leagues and events are women-centered, meaning they’re designed to prioritize women’s participation and comfort. Some events (like doubles or clinics) may welcome additional genders — check each event page for details.

  • Yes. She Throws SLC is committed to creating inclusive, welcoming spaces for LGBTQ+ players. Our events are women-centered, and we aim to be as inclusive as possible within that framework.

If your gender identity doesn’t fit neatly into traditional categories, or if you’re unsure whether a specific event is the right fit, please reach out through our contact form. We’re happy to connect and work with you to make sure you feel welcome and supported.

Everyone deserves to feel comfortable showing up and having a great time.

  • The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) is the international governing body for disc golf. The PDGA helps set the official rules of the game, supports tournament organization, and promotes the growth of disc golf worldwide.

Not all disc golf events are PDGA-sanctioned. Many leagues and casual events — including most She Throws SLC activities — are designed to be relaxed, accessible, and beginner-friendly without any PDGA requirements.

PDGA-sanctioned events are more structured and follow official competition rules, ratings, and equipment standards. When an event is PDGA-sanctioned, that information will always be clearly listed ahead of time.

If you’re new to disc golf, you do not need to know anything about the PDGA to get started — just come out and play.
